Christopher Ruth holds degrees in music composition and musicology, including a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. His diverse areas of specialization include 19th-century German dramatic music and Renaissance vocal polyphony, as well as the broader intersections between music and philosophy, psychology, and politics. He has presented his work at both national and international conferences, including the national meeting of the American Musicological Society and the North American Conference on Nineteenth-Century Music. His published work can be found in volumes such as “Music in Goethe’s Faust: Goethe’s Faust in Music and A Legacy of Hymnists,” as well as the A-R Online Music Anthology. He previously served as visiting assistant professor of musicology at the University of Pittsburgh and artist lecturer in music history at Carnegie Mellon University.
